DriveOhio, an initiative of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), worked with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) to develop an alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) registration dashboard to track the latest trends in alternative fuel vehicles across Ohio. This dashboard will help users better understand the alternative fuel types of vehicles being sold, where the vehicles are registered, and the type of fueling infrastructure that will be needed to support them.
The passenger car alternative fuel types included in this dashboard are battery electric vehicles (BEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), fuel cell vehicles (FCV), compressed natural gas (CNG), liquified natural gas (LNG), and liquified petroleum gas (LPG). All numbers are based on passenger cars registered in Ohio since 1980, with a 17-character VIN, and non-expired plates.
- Pages 1-3 display data about NEW passenger car AFV registrations each month (from November 2018 – present).
- Page 4 visualizes a different set of data - the TOTAL number of passenger cars and passenger car AFVs currently registered in Ohio as of the most recent month.
