CV/AV projects in Ohio will require a project-specific ConOps to describe the proposed project from a user’s perspective. A ConOps template, provided here, gives project owners a head start in identifying expected components to be included in project-level ConOps documentation.
Using this template, a project-specific ConOps was prepared for ODOT’s I-90 Lake Effect Corridor project, which seeks to equip 60 miles of I-90 with roadside units (RSUs) to send and receive data from CV-equipped public service vehicles, including snow plows. The data, combined with new variable speed limit signs, will help local officials and law enforcement better manage the roadway to reduce crashes and fatalities, especially during heavy snow events. Sample documents from this project are provided for reference here.
